Tianjin University Strengthens Ties with CNPC

On Sep 10th, Chai Liyuan, President of Tianjin University led a delegation to the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) for a visit and discussion aimed at deepening cooperation in science, education, and industry. Among those present were CNPC Chairman and Party Committee Secretary Dai Houliang; CNPC Vice General Manager and Party Committee Member Zhang Daowei; Yuan Yingjin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Dean of the School of Synthetic Biology and Biomanufacturing; and Lei Ming, Executive Deputy Secretary of Tianjin University’s Party Committee.

Dai Houliang praised the achievements Tianjin University has made in recent years, noting that first class universities and leading enterprises are both essential components of China’s strategy for becoming a science and technology powerhouse. with particular emphasis on how CNPC’s business domains align closely with Tianjin University’s strong academic disciplines, he emphasized that the institutions have a solid foundation for cooperation and significant potential for future development.

Chai expressed gratitude for CNPC’s support for the university’s development. He emphasized that Tianjin University is committed to addressing major national strategic needs, and has produced high-value scientific and technological results in fields such as chemical engineering, materials science, and energy, areas with tremendous potential for industrial application.

Looking ahead, Chai proposed that Tianjin University and CNPC collaborate more closely in building platforms, conducting scientific research, training talent, and converting research outcomes into industrial applications.

He called for joint university–enterprise cooperation that can power the integration of technological innovation and industrial innovation, contributing to high-quality economic and social development.
